A question from Yahoo! Answers:
I want to know the relationship of sociology to economics?
Sociology observes the reality; economics tries to explain why the reality is what it is and sometimes succeeds. For example, social stratification, a subdiscipline of sociology, studies inequality and class structure in the society. Economics tries to explain why inequality changes over time; in the U.S., for example, inequality is inversely related to inflation and the strength of unions and directly related to immigration.
