Will Germany trouble us again?
I mean, will Germans form another Hitler style regime, and by the same token what is the danger of getting a Tojo like dictatorship in Japan?
Highly unlikely. Germany is heavily dependent on its exports into France, Britain, and Italy (Jean Monet’s “omelet theory” is working really well). Japan has a constitutional limit on military spending (1% of GDP) and a constitutional ban on nuclear weapons. Both countries lack a requisite number of military aristocrats. The U.S., in contrast, looks much more ready for a military dictatorship. Too many generals, too much money spent on “defense”…
